Restoration of a grand Federation house

We all love the before and after shots of restoration work and the transformation images of this grand old federation house are no exception. The dwelling had been altered throughout its life, but not dramatically so. All of the main features had been left intact. Of special note are the pressed metal ceilings, the cedar doors and metal locks, the Kauri Pine floorboards and the lathe and plaster walls.

It was important to maintain the character of the property but at the same time bring in all the modern convenience that we require in a house. Plumbing was the biggest issue, followed by years of built up paint and poor repair work.

It was not hard to see past the 80's decor and the shabby exterior and what followed was a commitment and passion to bring this beautiful old house back to life. The results are quite sensational.
